RLE COURTYARD BEAUTIFICATION!

On Saturday, February 7th, students and their families, teachers, administration and our sponsor installed student art, painted and landscaped the courtyard at RLE.  Just take a look at our before photo to see the dramatic results!  Everyone is in awe of the spruced up space and the art the students made for it.  There are just a few finishing touches for us to do.  We enjoy sitting at the new picnic tables and would like to thank our generous sponsors, Deutsche Bank, for providing us with live plants, landscaping equipment, the wonderful tables, and hands on workers.  Generation Works is an AMAZING program!  We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing the beautification theme campus wide.
BEFORE
Pre K and K hand print mural, 1st grade plastic bottle chandelier, 3rd grade, brick mosaic (just need to add title in the corner), 4th grade fence weaving, and 5th grade plastic bottle flowers

2nd grade ceramic tiles on the steps of all four sides of the flagpole planter.  We are looking forward to adding to it each year and hope it will be completely covered soon.  =)

Seating and bike rack painted in our school colors!

It took a lot of bottles to make this and we will fill in the empty spaces soon.  Drink more water, Kids!

About Me

My photo
Michelle "Meche" Farah; I have a BFA in Painting and Illustration and Art History Minor from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Before I discovered a love to teach, I worked in interior design, and film production. My teaching certification is from Jacksonville University. This is my 13th year as a teacher and 4th year at Fort Caroline Middle. I teach Art History and sculpture. I am a professional decorative painting artist and a former board member of NeFAEA- Northeast Florida Art Educators Association. I am an active FAEA- Florida Art Education member and attend state conference every year. I have also attended nationals conference several times. My FAVORITE project is "Recycle-Transformation" which simply means going green and making old items new and appreciated. Our FUTURE is in our hands, I include recycled materials in student projects. In my art program students practice the disciplines of art history, art production, art aesthetics, and art criticism. It is not only important to make and learn about art but how to discuss it and bring value and meaning to it. Thanks for viewing our art blog, we are glad you stopped by!
